Zen-Wu Plane Blade (for metallic planes)
Replacement plane blades for Bailey- and Stanley-style bench planes. Compatible with most #3-#8 sizes from Lie-Nielsen, Veritas (standard line only, not the custom line), WoodRiver, Clifton, Quangsheng, Luban, Dictum, and older Stanley planes (which may need minor mouth filing to accommodate the thicker blade).
Two steels available:
- ZW-V0 (4.3mm thick): laminated into soft iron for vibration damping and easier back-flattening on the stone. Paired with a 2.7mm stainless steel chipbreaker.
- CPM Magnacut / ZW-V2 (4.0mm thick): laminated into a titanium alloy body, paired with a 3.0mm titanium alloy chipbreaker. Titanium gives even better vibration damping than soft iron, the same ease of back-flattening, and no rust. Magnacut itself is stainless, making the full blade rust-resistant end to end.
Both steels sit well ahead of standard bench plane steels like PMV11 or O1 in edge retention and toughness. Between the two: ZW-V0 runs harder and holds up better on tropical or Australian hardwoods where edge retention is the priority. Magnacut trades a bit of hardness for stainless corrosion resistance, better suited to humid shops and green woodworking.
Both options are flat, razor-sharp, and ready to use. Each blade comes with a titanium screwdriver and an extra compatibility slider.
