Warranty
Every Zen-Wu tool is warranted to the original owner, for the life of the tool, against defects in materials and workmanship. This covers the metal: blade lamination, heat treatment, machining, and structural failure under normal use. It applies whether you bought from us directly or from one of our dealers; keep your receipt.
Wooden parts (handles, plane bodies) are warranted for one year. Wood responds to climate in ways steel does not, so after the first year we look at cracks and loosening case by case. Our care pages describe what normal care looks like; we use them as the reference when we assess a claim.
What is not covered
Normal wear: edges dulling, sharpening media wearing down, surface marks and patina from use. Damage from misuse or modification: striking nails, prying, re-hardening, open flame. Rust from neglect on carbon steel. On blem tools, the flaws described in the listing.
How it works
Email luke@zenwutoolworks.com with your order number and photos of the problem. Most claims are settled from photos; you will rarely need to ship anything. If the defect is ours, we repair first, replace when repair is not possible, and refund when neither is. Shipping both ways is on us.
Repairs outside warranty
If a tool is damaged in a way the warranty does not cover, we can often still repair it in the workshop that made it. Write to us with photos and we will quote the work before you decide.
