Wedged Handle Care and Use

Notes on the wedged handles fitted to Zen-Wu striking tools.

The allowance

The two titanium alloy wedges ship pre-set, with a slight allowance left for future tightening. Wood moves with humidity, and the handle needs its first months to settle into the climate of your shop.

Seating the wedges

After several months of use, or once the handle has acclimated to the humidity of your working environment, drive the wedges fully home. This keeps the handle from working loose.

If the handle loosens

Seat the wedges deeper. If the wedges are fully seated and the handle still moves, write to us at info@zenwutoolworks.com and we will sort it out.
