A full-size shop hatchet with a ZW-H1 sandwich-welded edge: a powder-metallurgy tool steel developed for impact toughness, meaning it takes heavy strikes without chipping at the edge. The steel core is sandwiched and welded between two layers of titanium alloy, a construction novel to Zen-Wu. The titanium body will not rust.
Built for the kind of work a shop hatchet actually does: splitting stock for carving, roughing out green wood, knocking down waste before moving to a chisel. Flat and ready to shave out of the box.
