The D-1 is a butt chisel: short head, short handle. The shorter the chisel, the closer the hand sits to the edge, and the more directly force transfers from hand or mallet into the cut.

Same steel as the Y-2: ZW-C2 white-paper carbon steel, multiple cryogenic cycles, 64 HRC. Flat bevel and back, ground ready to shave at 30°. Blade 3-1/2" (89mm), handle 3-1/16" (78mm), total length 6-9/16" (167mm).

Handle follows the N-1: short form in reclaimed old-growth red ring-cupped oak.

Three widths: 1/2", 1", and 2". The 2" is wider than what standard bench chisels offer, useful for hinge work and broad paring. Sold individually or as a set of three.
