Zen-Wu Z-1T Straight Edge
The titanium alloy version of our Z-1 straight edge.
Why titanium: steel is heavy and rusts; aluminum is light but wears down at the working edges over years. Titanium avoids both problems. It also expands less with temperature than aluminum (about a third as much), so the straight edge holds its reference more reliably across a workshop that runs cold in winter and warm in summer.
Titanium body, machined through three stages of heat treatment to relieve stress at each step: raw material, rough machining, and finishing.
Straightness tolerance: 0.007mm (less than 0.3 thou). Surface finish: RA=0.06μm.
Two working sides: one with a relief notch for checking plane soles where the blade protrudes through the mouth, the other for general flat-surface and alignment checks.
Comes with a hand-stitched leather case.
