Strike Face Finish

A hammer grows with its user. A heavier head delivers the same momentum at a lower swing speed, and at lower speed you have more control of where the blow lands.

The F-3 is Zen-Wu's heaviest hammer, a 2 lb (900g) lump hammer. Many woodworkers like a lump hammer for chopping mortises and driving tight joints. The strike faces are spot-hardened to 55 HRC; the softer core between them (20 HRC) absorbs shock and cuts rebound. The handle is flame-treated black locust.

Head: 1-7/8" × 3-3/16" (48 × 80.5mm). Overall length: 13" (330mm).
